Interactivity #2
Step One:
Art was not touched upon in the video of history of technology in schools. However, I believe that the television would be the influential technology during the historical time period. Television could talk about the history of art and what was going on during this time period or prior time periods. Students could visually see what the world looked like in the in this time which could be a positive aspect to the curriculum. I believe that art history is a very important aspect to art since many artist use it for influence in their art work. Things such as the chalk board, radio, or computer games do not help the art classroom since art is mainly visual. This is why I believe that the television although only used in early age classroom is most influential.
Step Two:
I believe that television/movies have has the greatest impact on art during 1820- 1990. Although both teachers and schools boards were apprehensive to having technology in the classroom, in the end I believe it was beneficial. In chapter 2 of "Rethinking Technology and Schools" it states that one perspective of technology is the celebrant. This perspective states that, "..the aesthetic qualities of technology will inspire and motivate students, thus far exceeding any potential negative effects" (33). This perspective is the most important one because most art teachers I have had always say that art history should inspire you to create work that you have not created before. The television/movies can show students old art pieces or host interviews with older artist. The chapter also states that, "Teachers who subscribe to this perspective acknowledge new media and technologies simply as effective tools that aid the process of instruction and the communication of information" (34). This quote is a perfect example of why television should in introduced in the classroom.
Step Three:
"Watch and Learn"
