Recourses Available

While at the information session on Monday for the final project it was brought to my attention that there are workshops on campus about different types of technology that are out there. We also talked about how you could stand out in an interview if you show that you know how to use different types of technology in the classroom. I have only seen a smartboard once however I have never used it. Now that I have realized that if I were to get a job in a school that enforces the use of smartboards I would be very lost. I am now going to keep an eye out for different workshops that I could attend to keep me informed about the different technologies that are in the education world.

Final Project

Matrix

For the final project I have decided to use my lesson plan from CURR 310 the inclusion module. This lesson is created for a 6-8th grade class over a 4 day 40 minute period of time. The class is learning how create and understand the color wheel. They are also learning how to view color in famous artwork to see what the artist was trying to evoke to the viewer.

The first part of my lesson is to have student identify vocabulary of the color wheel. They will learn the primary, secondary, and the tertiary colors. They are doing this vocabulary list with a partner. These words are to help students understand the color wheel as well as color theory.

The first row of my matrix I used a PowerPoint and the smartboard to help with the explanation, group work, and group discussion that will accomplish the standard that states, students will be able to identify art with appropriate vocabulary and solve hands on problems. The NETS-S that goes with this section of the lesson is that students will use collaborative electronics to explore the curriculum with other learners. These technologies will help students understand the background information and the vocabulary because it will be visual. The strategies that are used for this section are both teacher centered and student centered making a conducive classroom.

The next part of the lesson is to have students draw out their color wheel making sure it is even and correct. The second row I will use TUX paint drawing program and a projector to help the students with participation and evaluation to accomplish the standard that states, that they will use different types of technology to accomplish a goal. The NETS-S that goes with this section is to illustrate a content-related concept by using a model or concept-mapping software. The TUX paint-drawing program is a useful because it will show students exactly how a color wheel is made and used. The projector will show the color wheel during the activity of them creating their own color wheels.

The third section of this lesson is to have students actually paint their color wheels after a demonstration from the teacher. The next row covers this section of the lesson. I will be using a podcast for the demonstration and art making strategies of this section that will cover the standard that states, that they will use different types of technology to accomplish a goal. The NETS-S that correlates with this section is that students will illustrate a content-related concept by using a model or concept-mapping software. I will do my demonstration of making a color wheel and record it on the podcast. I will have this playing during the activity so students can see exactly how it was done and could reference it if there are any questions.

The last section of the lesson is an oral assessment. Students are shown different famous photographs and have to talk about the color using vocabulary they have learned during this lesson. I will be using an online museum and the smartboard to help with the large group discussion and the question and answer which will cover the standard that states, synthesize the physical properties, process and techniques in a specific piece. The NETS-S that states, to gather data, examine patterns, and apply information for decision-making relates to this section. The technology is helpful in this section because I will be showing photograph of famous work through a website which will help students realize that they could find these famous art pieces on the web.

Essay: Technology changes how art is created and percieved

This essay talks about how much technology is changing art. It states that years ago there was one author to a book, a director to a movie, and an artist to a art pieces. Now that has changed because of technology. Pop art such as Warhol, Lichtenstein used technology to alter their color in their images. They continued to state that anyone could take a piece of work and alter it and call it their own making technology a negative aspect to art. Although this article views technology as a negative aspect, in the classroom incorporating technology could enhance the lesson and classroom as a whole. The article states, "In such a world, art may still exist, but we won't always know exactly where to find it, which can be a scary prospect." As long as the students realize what the point of using or having the technology is there will be a positive outcome. As teachers you could even assign the students to take a piece of work off the internet and alter to show exactly what this article is talking about.

Interactivity #5

Interactivity #5

I unfortunately did not complete Interactivity #4 in time for grading so I made sure to complete that activity thoroughly so I could complete this activity successfully. I chose a lesson called "Power of an Image". I was drawn to this lesson because I would like to teach photography. This lesson works over multiple days. The first section of this lesson is to have students find 30 photographs and place them into different groups. The lesson stated that they should find these pictures from newspaper, postcards, and magazines so I added an internet search for technology part of this lesson. For the copy right and fair use, this section may have to be altered. Students can not exceed 15 images from the same artist. Therefor supervision and more time may be allotted so this does not happen.
The second section of this lesson is to teach students how to take a successful photograph and then have students go out and complete the process by themselves. Students are taught how to use a digital camera therefor technology was already incorporated in this section of the lesson. However I added Flickr to this section so students could upload there pictures onto the website and show both students and the teacher their photos in an easy manner. There are no Fair Use or Copyright laws for this section. Students can create any type of pictures they would like. There is no law stating they can not however if they are photographing someone on the streets they may want to ask permission of the person they are photographing.
The third section of this lesson is to have students create a powerpoint about their final project. Once again there was technology already incorporated into this section of the lesson therefore I did not have to add any more to it. This section does not need any alterations because the powerpoint program can be downloaded at home which does not cause any problems. The only section that could cause problems is the fact of where they got their information and if it is plagiarized and if they exceed the amount of words in which they are allotted to use.
There were not that many changes to the lesson from activity #4 because the lesson already incorporated technology. There were a couple more added to the lesson to make it more complete. I believe this lesson is very successful in every aspect.

Lesson Plan for Interactivity #4 (late)

I did not complete Interactivity 4 in time however I have completed the assignment
